THE STORY BEHIND OUR TASTING ROOM

Amigoni Urban Winery is located in the historic Daily Drovers Telegram Newspaper in the Stockyards District of the West Bottoms.

The building was constructed in 1909, and for 50 years was a daily newspaper for the livestock industry. The front tasting room was the newsroom and our barrel room is where they had the press. If you look closely near the back of the room, there is still ink visible on the ceiling! Jay Neff, who ran the Daily Drovers Telegram newspaper was mayor of Kansas City from 1904-1905. A journalism building at the University of Missouri is now named after him.

Our designer John O’Brien restored our space to the majestic look of the era and truly recycled a building, with over 24 reclaimed doors and tile resembling the early 1900’s.
